Eloping at Sunrise in Colorado: Moose, Marmots & Magic Near Sylvan Lake

Bela and Jake aren’t your typical couple—and this wasn’t your typical wedding.

These two wild hearts chose to elope in the mountains of Colorado, just outside of Vail, near the stunning Sylvan Lake and the cozy town of Eagle. And if that wasn’t already dreamy enough, they went all in and said “I do” at sunrise. (Yes, we met at 5 AM. No, it’s not for the faint of heart. But oh, was it worth it.)

They planned this elopement for months—because when you’re waking up before the sun and hiking into the high country to commit your lives to each other, you want it to be just right. We kicked things off with a first look in a quiet grove of Aspen trees, golden light filtering through the leaves like something out of a fairy tale. It was private, peaceful, and full of emotion. And just when we thought it couldn’t get more magical—throughout the course of the morning we saw five (yes, five!) moose, two curious marmots, and a majestic herd of elk wandering through the mist. Talk about an unforgettable guest list.

After their first look, Bela and Jake shared a mountaintop picnic. These two aren’t champagne drinkers (and I’ve got the cutest photo of Bela’s “yuck” face to prove it), but they toasted with joy all the same.tears streaming down their faces in the crisp morning air, surrounded by nothing but mountains, love, and a whole lot of wild beauty.

During their vows amongst the aspen trees tears streamed down their faces in the crisp morning air, surrounded by nothing but mountains, love, and a whole lot of wild beauty.

It’s moments like this that remind me why I do what I do. I get to witness real, raw, emotional love in places that take your breath away. Such a beautiful moment in such an enduring love story. Bela and Jake’s elopement wasn’t flashy or fancy—but it was unforgettable. And that’s exactly the kind of magic that happens when you choose to elope in Colorado.

welcome

Intimacy and adventure is what I am all about. I absolutely love families who are just fun, who are real and let it fly.  I want to see you!  They don’t mind if they get their dress dirty. They may be down for a short hike and are not afraid of getting in the water at the end of your session, you are my people. They don’t mind if things don’t go perfectly and that is just perfect.

The best parts of life are the parts that surprise us, and the best photos are usually the ones we didn’t know were coming.
