If you’ve ever wondered what the perfect intimate wedding in the Colorado mountains looks like, this one might just be it.
This sweet couple chose a Vail Chapel wedding surrounded by only their favorite people—just their kids, a couple of close friends, and their grandkids. No big guest list. No distractions. Just love, laughter, and the kind of joy that fills a room (and makes photographing it an absolute dream).
As a Vail elopement photographer, days like this are exactly why I do what I do.
A Mountain Love Story That Started in Aspen
Earlier this summer, I had the joy of photographing their engagement session in Aspen, and it became immediately clear—these two love the mountains. The way they move through them together feels effortless, like the Rockies have always been part of their story.
So when they told me they were planning an intimate wedding in Vail, it felt like the perfect next chapter.
From Aspen engagement photos to a Vail Chapel ceremony? Chef’s kiss. 💛
Dancing Their Way Down the Aisle at Vail Chapel
The Vail Chapel is a classic for a reason—timeless, cozy, and beautifully nestled in the heart of the village. But what really made this ceremony unforgettable wasn’t just the location… it was the energy.
Instead of walking solemnly down the aisle, they danced their way to the altar. And yes—they danced back out too. The entire chapel was filled with laughter, huge smiles, and that contagious kind of happiness you can’t fake.
One of the most moving moments came before the ceremony, when everyone gathered on the front steps of the chapel for a prayer. With the mountains standing quietly behind them, it was intimate, emotional, and incredibly beautiful. Those are the moments that make intimate weddings so powerful—and so meaningful to photograph.
Why Intimate Weddings and Elopements in Vail Are So Special
There’s something about keeping your wedding small that allows you to really feel every moment.
You’re not rushing.
You’re not performing.
You’re present.
Whether you’re planning a full elopement or a micro-wedding with just family, Vail is one of the best places in Colorado for intimate weddings. Between the scenery, the walkable village, and the cozy venues, it’s ideal for couples who want something meaningful without the overwhelm.
As a Vail elopement photographer, I always tell couples: intimate days photograph beautifully because they’re rooted in connection—and that’s exactly what this day was.
An Intimate Reception at Chasing Rabbits (Highly Recommend)
After the ceremony, we headed to Chasing Rabbits in Vail Village for the reception—and if you’re planning an elopement, micro-wedding, or even a proposal dinner in Vail, put this place on your list.
The atmosphere is stylish, cozy, and incredibly fun for photography. In this case, they had the back room all to themselves, which made it feel even more intimate. Soft lighting, great design, amazing food, and space to linger over conversation—it was perfect.
They shared a relaxed, heartfelt dinner surrounded by family, laughter, and the kind of warmth that only comes from doing things your way.
