Paige and David's Adventure Elopement 02.21.18
The Venue.... The Beaver Creek Nordic Center as we know it is in danger of being turned into beginning skier terrain. This elopement may be one of the last times a couple will travel through trees and unobstructed vistas to be married at the top of the mountain.
The Adventure....I am thrilled I was able to capture this milestone for Paige and David. (Especially since I was just shy of 8 months pregnant!) We could not have had a more beautiful day for this adventure! We also had an incredible guide named Ulrica, she has vast knowledge of the mountain and the nature that surrounded us.
The Ceremony... Paige and David brought their close friend, Jim, who is also a pastor. Jim performed a beautiful ceremony for these two on their wedding day. As far as adventure elopements go, this one would be hard to beat in my book. Wedding Photography...This is the story of their elopement in pictures.
What if you want photos in Vail Village's covered bridge in the middle of winter on a weekend? You will find it is completely covered in foot traffic, Vail is a busy place in the winter. However, Lauren and Blake chose to capture their engagement photos in Ford Park, which was a bit of the walk from the parking garage, but they were up for the adventure. There is a lovely covered bridge in Ford Park and it is far less busy than Vail Village. We also made our way over to the Vail Nordic Center where we were able to capture the Gore Range on wedding island. Lauren and Blake brought their cute dogs along for the photo shoot to capture the whole family! I love dogs, so this worked out perfectly! I am thrilled to be capturing their wedding this summer at the Wellshire Event Center and Golf Course. The day will be here before we know it!
Are you planning an elopement in Colorado? You are not alone in wanting to have a quiet romantic wedding that is all about you and your spouse. In Colorado you will experience fresh mountain air, incredible views of the rocky mountains and the sound of the wind whirling in vast open spaces.
Whether you want to get married in a gorgeous dress, close to civilization or if you want the adventure of hiking to a remote location. I have some ideas for you!
Here are some great spots to consider when planning your Colorado Elopement…
Breckenridge, Vail or Beaver Creek on skis! Why not? If you both love to ski, this might be the adventure for you! I would scout a few places for you to tie the knot ahead of time. If you are strong skiers we could capture your vows at Blue Sky Basin in Vail, there is nothing more beautiful than looking off the far backside of Vail into the backcountry wilderness of endless rocky mountains. These two were married at Breckenridge on a snowy day last February. It was super cold out, so we had to find a warming hut to stage for the ceremony. Don’t worry, ski boots are super comfortable to get married in or at least you won’t notice them!
Sapphire Point Overlook… This location does require you to apply for a permit, the cost is minimal. I would be happy to help you with your application. This overlook is about 50 yards from the parking lot. You can still dress up in a gorgeous dress and even heels to make the trek! This couple was married a couple years ago, they had a small wedding party and some guests. They all went to dinner in town afterwards. This location is central to Keystone, Dillon, Frisco and Breckenridge. Permits
Snowshoe hike to the overlook at Beaver Creek. This will be at least a 3.5 mile round trip snowshoe. You can hire a guide to get an even better location away from other guests, they will take you off trail to find a more secluded spot. Beaver Creek Nordic Center
Maroon Bells… for a little adventure you might want to pack your wedding dress in a backpack and then hike to the lake that overlooks Maroon Bells. Or we can drive up after 5pm on a weekday. This will be an unforgettable adventure with outstanding views. This one is best for elopements that are just the couple. Maroon Bells Info
Ptarmigan Pass… drive up a dirt road past Camp Hail to a mountain top with gorgeous rock cropings and lush green meadows with 360 degree mountain views. There are no trees up here! Minimal hiking, but maximum vistas. Google View
Top of the Eagle Bahn Gondola at Vail Mountain… The views won’t disappoint and you can wear your wedding dress for this short hike. Get ready at your hotel in the village, then take the gondola to the top of the mountain. When you are finished with your vows, you can have dinner at one of the many restaurants in Lionshead Village.
