The one exception to my once yearly mini session rule is for babies 6-24 months. If you have a babe under two years old I understand the attention span. Sometimes we only get 25 minutes with these little ones, which makes a mini session perfect. (Newborn sessions cannot be done in a mini session! Blog post to follow.) The Cloar family was able to capture this sweet little moment with their beautiful 9 month old son. We made sure to have blankets for snuggling. A sunrise session is a bit chillier than a sunset session. Even though it is colder, it can be very beautiful; with alpine glow to the West and the sun coming up from the East.
As a mother of a 17 month old I know how fast each stage comes and goes. I am so happy I could capture this sweet moment in time for this family.
"My childhood is a part of my story, and it's why I'm who I am today." -Misty Copeland
All parts of childhood are important. The days are long but the years go by fast. The Higbie's captured this time in their family's journey with me in a mini session. We were able to find a great spot that allowed us to capture beautiful backdrops in a short amount of time. Minis are offered only once per year and are a great way to capture your families story in this moment. Stay tuned for next year's mini session offering! It will be announced via Facebook and my email list.
These new beginnings go by so fast. One day you are two, then the family becomes three. The new arrival taking up so much space in your heart you feel as though you could burst. As the saying goes: the days are long, but years are short. The first year and every year after that flying by, all we can do is savor every special tiny moment.
In this day and age it is so hard to make time for family, even harder to make time for cousins and grandparents. It is such a blessing when the whole family is able to spend quality time together. This family loves this area so much that they have made Beaver Creek a home away from home. Now, time spent together comes a little more easily and is an absolute joy.
It's not often that a family is able to travel together with everyone there, moms and dads, all the cousins and grandparents; together in one place! This is a special time, especially for the grandparents. To see your babies and their babies growing up before your eyes. I love to work with extended families to capture the dynamics between cousins, grandkids and grandparents, as well as each individual family. I can only hope that for years to come this family will look at these pictures and remember this moment in their lives, this moment together.
Road trip! This amazing family was on day 11 of a two week road trip exploring the best of the West. To add to this amazing adventure they were traveling in a fully battery operated car! How cool is that? When this family looks back on this incredible road trip they will have photos framed in their home, they will remember exactly what their 8 year old daughter looked like on that trip. These moments are so fleeting, but when they see their photographs the memories from all their adventures will come flooding back. I am so blessed to be able to capture these moments for people.
This is what Collection III plus astro photography looks like, I pull out all the stops for these sessions. For Lily's session we were blessed with the most perfect evening! A gorgeous sunset with beautiful clouds and a cloudless evening for a perfect view of the Milky Way, we could not have asked for a better day.
I had the absolute joy of shooting this mini session of my neighbors. We ventured just around the block to this gorgeous meadow. We timed the session to be 30 minutes before sunset. This is a group of images from the series I created for this family. Although mini sessions come with 10 images, those 10 images are your choice. You will have 35+ images to choose from. My goal is to give you a variety of candid images, along with some posed images, in hopes that you will have far more than 10 images that you absolutely love.
What a joy it was to see my good old friend Betsy! She has not changed a bit, still gorgeous! This beautiful family battled the weather as a small wind storm came through in the beginning of our session. We ended up retreating to the dunes for protection from the wind. However, we got beautiful stormy skies in our images. It is important to find beauty in whatever the day may bring, in this case, we lucked out with no rain!
We luckily had a gorgeous night for the Bolduc family portraits! The sunset did not disappoint. These are good old friends from high school. As I edited these photos it was so wonderful to see their faces frame, after frame; they have not changed a bit!! We chose Saugatuck as our backdrop for this session. You can see that this location offers gorgeous dunes, beach grass and water views.
